Abstract

This study aims to find how Alice and her friends fight against male domination and patriarchy with build sisterhood. Society considers oppression to women is normal whereas it is very detrimental to women. It causes many women to think that they are indeed weak, but not with female characters in The Giver of Stars novel that will be discuss. Jojo Moyes’ The Giver of Stars portraying about the five women who reach the same goals, but in the process of achieving it must go through many problems. This novel conveys how sisterhood helps women solve their problems in everyday lives. The writer of this study uses qualitative and descriptive research to examine and elaborates the study. This study applied Feminism theory especially sisterhood theory by Bell Hooks. The result of this study is to shows that sisterhood is there to fight against patriarchal culture and help to solve their oppression problems.
