Abstract

To develop new drug in analgesic-antipyretic class we had modified paminofenol to produce N-m-chlorobenzoyl-p-aminophenol. The objective of the research is to produce N-m-chlorobenzoyl-p-aminophenol and examine its analgesic activity. The compound was produced by reacting p-aminofenol and mchlorobenzoyl chloride using solvent-modified Schotten-Baumann method. The analgesic activity was examined by writhing test. The synthesis product has melting point 210-212 oC and 41% yield. The compound was confirmed as N-m-chlorobenzoyl-p-aminophenol base on spectroscopic data IR and 1H-NMR. The ED50 of synthetic compound was 26 mg/kg body-weigh, while paracetamol has ED50 45 mg/kg body-weigh. It concluded that N-m-chlorobenzoyl-p-aminophenol had analgesic activity higher than paracetamol.
