Abstract

Nowadays, society, especially women, has a new paradigm that delays marriage time by reason of prioritizing various interests such as careers, financial needs, and education. IVF is the answer because this method become more effective from year to year as an infertility therapy. Woman’s age and duration of infertility are considered as main prognostic factors that determine the success of IVF because they are closely related to time. Therefore, it is important to know how the influence of women's age and duration of infertility on the success of the IVF program so that infertile couples are expected to be able to plan their IVF program earlier, based on simple data but has a decent clinical value. The picture that will be obtained is expected to increase the knowledge of society and medical personnel about time-related infertility and its relationship with the success of IVF as a therapy. Aim of this study is to know influence of women's age and duration of infertility towards the pregnancy success of the IVF program. This study uses an observational analytic study with a cross sectional design using medical record to obtain woman's age & duration of infertility as independent variables and β-hCG levels combined with progesterone levels as dependent variable. Result: There was a correlation between woman's age with pregnancy success (p=0,024) as well as duration of infertility and pregnancy success (p=0,000) in IVF program participants. Majority of the IVF program participant is in the 30-34 years old age group and has ≥5 years duration of infertility. Women’s age mean is 33,81±4,8 years old and duration of infertility mean is 7,18±3,89 years. Success rate of the FIV program at this clinic is 38.0%. In conclusion, this finding confirm that woman’s age and duration of infertility has an effect to pregnancy success of the IVF program.
