Abstract

The aims of this study were to determine the effect of platelet rich plasma (PRP) allogeneic and xenogeneic on the collagen density and full thickness wound diameter in male rat (Rattus norvegicus). Fourty male rats were randomly divided into 2 groups, 20 rats to collect platelet rich plasma (allogeneic) and 20 rats for treatment. Twenty male rats were randomly divided into 4 group for treatment group. Control (C) group was full thickness wound without treatment, P1 group was full thickness wound with 0,05 ml povidone iodine, P2 group was full thickness wound with 0,05 ml bovine platelet rich plasma (PRP), P3 group was full thickness wound with 0,05 ml rat platelet rich plasma (PRP). Full thickness wound diameter observations were performed on the wound area and observed every two days using a digital caliper for 14 days. The amount of 20 rat skin samples were collected in 15 th day. Full thickness wound diameter were analyzed with One Way ANOVA, Duncan Test and collagen density full thicknes wound were analyzed with Kruskal-Wallis, Mann Whitney U. The result showed bovine platelet rich plasma that it could increase the highest collagen density closest to normal skin and showed that it reduced the full thickness wound diameter because bovine platelet rich plasma contain have a lot growth factor. The growth factor contained in PRP plays an important role in increasing collagen synthesis there by accelerating wound healing and tissue regeneration due to the high concentrations of PDGF and TGF released from α-granule platelets after the platelets are activated. The results of this study can be concluded that administration of bovine platelet rich plasma can increase collagen density and reduce wound diameter in full thickness wound healing of rats.
