Abstract
This undergraduate thesis is written to find whether there is a correlation between emotional abuse and tendency of juvenile delinquency at the children who become a victim in that kind of abuse. This research was carried out on each sample consist of 150 high school student in Mojo, Surabaya. This research using survey method for collecting data. Emotional abuse was measured by using The Child Abuse and Trauma Scale (CATS) developed by Sanders and Becker-Lausen (1995), and the tendency of juvenile delinquency was measured using the Self-Report Delinquency (SRD) developed by Elliott and Ageton (1980). The data analyzed using statistic non parametric method with correlation test technique of Spearman’s Rho The result of this research shows that emotional abuse which happen to child is in correlation with the tendency of juvenile delinquency in that child. The value of correlation coefficient between those two variables is 0,288 with significance rating of 0,000. Significance value of 0.000 which is smaller than the probability value of 0.05 (p <0.05) showed that the working hypothesis in this study received, that there is a significant correlation between emotional abuse and tendency of juvenile delinquency. But the small correlation coefficient indicate there are other thing that can be greater effect for the tendency of delinquency.
