Abstract

Background.. Mesiodistal width different on each human, this difference affect on intercanine distance and intermolar distance. This relation also affect on arch length and occlusion caused by genetic, environment, evolution and gender. Mesiodistal width, intercanine distance and intermolar distance important to diagnosis and compose tratment planning on Orthodontic. Purpose. To find out average of mesiodistal width, intercanine distance, intermolar distance and difference between male and female on Java population in faculty of dentistry Universitas Airlangga . Method, This study using dental cast from scholar Java population in faculty of dentistry Universitas Airlangga. Result.. The result represent that mesiodistal width, intercanine distance, and intermolar distance on male wider than female. Conclussion. Significant difference found on mesiodistal width canine in maxilla and mandibula, first molar in maxilla and lateral incisive in mandibula, on male measurement of mesiodistal width of those teeth wider than on female. Significant difference also found on intercanine distance and intermolar distance of maxilla and mandibula, on male intercanine and intermolar distance wider than on female.
