Abstract
Latar belakang: Periodontitis merupakan infeksi bakteri kronis yang menyebabkan kondisi inflamasi-imun yang mempengaruhi gingiva dan penyangga gigi jaringan. Matriks metalloproteinase 8 (MMP 8) adalah protease yang terlibat dalam penyakit periodontal sebagai biomarker. Erythromycin adalah antibiotik yang berguna untuk pengobatan sejumlah infeksi bakteri termasuk sebagai pengobatan periodontitis. Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji penurunan kadar pembentukan matrix metalloproteinase (MMP 8) pada pasien periodontitis dengan menggunakan obat Erythromycin. Metode: Analisis metode Literature Review, didapatkan 5 jurnal yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Hasil: Berdasarkan 5 jurnal tersebut obat Erthromycin dapat menurunkan kadar pembentukan MMP 8 pada pasien periodontitis. Kesimpulan: Penggunaan obat Erythromycin pada pasien periodontitis dapat menurunkan pembentukan Matrix Metalloproteinase-8 (MMP 8) dan menurunan proses keradangan.
