Abstract

Perpustakaan adalah pusat informasi yang sangat membantu dalam proses pendidikan dan mencerdaskan masyarakat. Ada berbagai macam jenis perpustakaan. Salah satunya adalah perpustakaan umum. Perpustakaan umum adalah lembaga informasi yang berada di tingkat kabupaten. Perpustakaan milik masyarakat, untuk masyarakat, dari masyarakat Perpustakaan umum menghadapi tantangan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi masyarakat sekitarnya. Agar tetap dapat menarik minat masyarakat untuk memanfaatkan perpustakaan umum salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan mengetahui persepsi pengguna terhadap perpustakaan umum kota Balai Pemuda Surabaya. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan 4 dimensi dari LibQual +TM untuk menetahui persepsi terhadap perpustakaan umum yaitu Affect of service, Personal control, Information access dan Library as place. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menurut Bimo Walgito yang menyatakan bahwa dalam proses persepsi ada 3 tahap yaitu (1) Tahap pertama yaitu tahap yang dikenal dengan proses fisik atau proses penginderaan; (2) Tahap kedua yaitu tahap fisiologis; (3) Tahap ketiga merupakan tahap psikologis dimana pengguna sudah dapat mengeluarkan persepsinya. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan non-probability sampling dengan menggunakan sampel purposive dan metode yang digunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Pengguna mempersepsikan dimensi Affect of service dengan positif. Sementara, dalam dimensi personal control, pengguna mempersepsi positif aspek ease of navigation dan convenience, namun aspek modern equipment mendapatkan persepsi negative. Kemudian, pengguna pengguna memiliki persepsi negative terhadap dimensi information access. Pengguna memiliki persepsi positif terhadap dimensi library as place. Translation: Library is the information centers, which very helpful in the process of education and educating the public. There are various types of libraries, one is the public library. Public Library is an institution which is at the district level. Public library owned by community, for the community, from the community. Public libraries face the challenge of meeting the information needs of the surrounding community. In order to remain able to attract people to utilize public libraries, one way to do that is by knowing the user’s perception of the public library of Balai Pemuda Surabaya. In this study, using four dimensions of LibQual+TM to determine the perception of the public library is, Affect of Service, Personal Control, Information Access, and Library as Place. The theory used in this study according to Bimo Walgito which states that in the process of perception there are 3 stages: (1) The first stage is the stage known as a physical process or a process of sensing; (2) The second stage is the stage of physiological; (3) The third stage is the psychological stage where users already can issue perception. The sampling technique using a non-probability sampling using purposive sampling and the method used descriptive quantitative method. Users perceive the dimensions Affect of service with the positive. Meanwhile, in the personal control dimension, users perceive the positive aspects of ease of navigation and convenience, yet aspects of modern equipment get negative perception. Then, the user has a negative perception of the dimension of information access. Users have a positive perception of the dimension of library as place.
