Abstract

Background: In dentistry often make teeth wound post extraction treatment. One thing is needed to be observed after treatment is the speed of healing process. At present, modern biomedical had developed medicine derived from traditional herbal to relieving side effect of chemical drugs. Ageratum conyzoides is used as medicinal treatment, some of them to heal wounds, but there had never been research of the use of Ageratum conyzoides in wound recovery after tooth extraction. Purpose: This research was to recognize the extract effect of Ageratum conyzoides leaves in accelerating wound healing by improving number of fibroblast and seeking optimum concentration for wound post extraction treatment for wistar rat teeth. Method: This research used 21 wistar male rats consist of 3 groups, Each of them contained 7 wistar male rats. Control group given to CMC-Na 0.5% in post extraction socket and other group administered extract gel of Ageratum conyzoides with concentration 2%, 4%. The 21 wistar rat were sacrified by in 3rd day after extraction. The number of fibroblast can be evaluated by using histology preparations. Fibroblasts were analized statistically using one-way ANOVA and LSD0.05. Result: The result of every tested group showed p>0.05, therefore all of data had normal distribution and continued by LSD0.05 test. Examination showed there was significant difference in fibroblast amount between treatment group by applied extract gel Ageratum conyzoides with another group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The application of extract gel Ageratum conyzoides can escalate the number of fibroblast cell amount post extraction teeth and the optimum concentration is 4%.
