Abstract

Alginate impression that contaminated by saliva and blood potentially could cause cross contamination. To prevent this, the impression have to be disinfected by disinfectant liquid such as mimba oil. Mimba oil (Azadirachta indica A.Juss) has some chemical content such as azadirachtin which is a phenol group that act as antibacterial and antimalaria, nimbolide as antibacterial and antimalaria and nimbidin act as antibacterial and antifungal. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to find out the most effective concentration of the mimba oil as disinfectant to decreasing microorganism colony in the alginate impression. Material and method. Thirty six sample have been taken from 9 responden. This alginate impression devided into 4 groups : group 1 sprayed by sterile aquades (as control), group 2 sprayed with mimba oil 50% for 30 second, group 3 sprayed with mimba oil 75% for 30 second, group 4 sprayed with mimba oil 100% for 30 second. The microorganism colony was counted using Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test to analyze the data, then Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney test for further analyze. Result. There is significant differencies between each group, p = 0,00 (p<0,05). Conclusion. Usage of 50% concentration of mimba oil as a disinfectant is already effective to decrease microorganism colony in the alginate impression.
