Abstract

Background. Oral’s condition has an important role in giving diagnostic dan prognostic on HIV-infected people. Oral lesion on HIV/AIDS-infected patient can also be used to determine grade and classification of the disease, related to CD4 level. One of oral lesion related to HIV infection is Oral Hairy Leukoplakia (OHL). The presence of OHL is expected to be used as a marker on the existence of HIV infection, total virus and total Limfosit-T CD4 in blood and predicts HIV development to AIDS. Anogenital sexual behavior performed by transgender and gay has a high risk of the disease transmission due to thin anal’s mucosa epithel, so that HIV infection can enter to blood circulation easier. Purpose. The aim of this study was to know the prevalence of Oral Hairy Leukoplakia (OHL) on transgenders with HIV/AIDS. Method. Analitic observasional study with crosssectional total sampling method on 108 subjects. Result. 45 from 108 transgenders (42%) had HIV positif and 7 transgenders (6%) among total sample had Oral Hairy Leukoplakia (OHL) lesion or 16% among HIV-infected transgenders. Conclusion. The presence of OHL lesion can be used as a marker that HIV infection is exist. However, OHL lesion cannot be used as a marker on CD4+ level.
