Abstract

Background.Today,the radiographs in dentistry becoming increasingly important as a means ofsupporting its role in determining the diagnosis, treatment planning, and evaluation of treatment results in abnormalities of the teeth and the support tissue. However, radigraphic technique used in dentistry still has shortcomings, one of which is the distortion. BOR technique with the use of vertical angulation possible vertical distortion. So on this occasion, the author wants investigate vertical distortion of the radiographic BOR technique on the maxillary first molar teeth by using a modified film holder. Purpose. Knowing the vertical distortion of angulation 20° superior vertical and 20° inferior vertical radiographic maxillary M1 BOR technique by using modified film holder. Method. The study was observational analytic sample of 24 people who will be photographed with periapical projection BOR technique angulation 20° superior vertical and 20° inferior vertical. Result. Radiograph result that angulation 20° superior vertical have greater distortion than 20° inferior vertical BOR technique. Conclusion. There are significant differences between distortion BOR technique angulation 20° superior vertical with 20° inferior vertical.
