Abstract

Cigarettes are made from the dried leaves of the tobacco plant. No less than 4000 irritating, suffocating, dissolving, inflammable, toxic, poison ous, carcinogenic gases and substances and even radioactive compounds ha ve been identified in tobacco smoke. Nicotine, tar, and CO are the most dangerous. Tar is the main cause of several types of cancer. CO is a poisonous gas that reduces the amount of oxygen taken up by a person’s red blood cells. This means less oxygen goes to organs of the body and the heart has to work harder. And nicotine is the drug in tobacco which contributes to addiction to cigarette smoking. The amount of nicotine in ci gar is higher than in cigarettes. So cigar can cause addiction in higher presentation than cigarettes. Nicotine is poisonous and has a number of effects on the body. In tongue, nicotine make the obstruction on taste pore and destruction sensory of the taste recepto r cell, and then it’s can inhibits chorda tympani responses to sweet stimuli.
