Abstract

The aims of this study is to know the activity infuse made from green betel (Piper betle Linn.) leafs compared to Piperazine citrate in case of dispatching Ascaris suum worm in vitro and find the optimal concentrate of green betel (Piper betle Linn.) leafs which would has anthelmintics activity as the reaction to Ascaris suum worm in vitro. Ten Ascaris suum worm which each of them were put into physiological NaCl liquid as the control, Piperazine citrate liquid 1.7% as the counterpart, green betel (Piper betle Linn.) leafs infuse with concentration of 15%, 20% and 25%. The design of research which was used is the Completely Randomized Design with four times repetition. Data that was collected then be analyzed by Anova test in order to find out if there any differences and than followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test if there was found any difference in the Anova test. The resulted that the Ascaris suum worm were dispatched in immersion of the research solution in the fourth, tenth, sixteenth and twenty two hours tests. The result showed significant differences (p<0.05) at every hour of observation. Green betel (Piper betle Linn.) leafs infuse 15% were able to dispatch all of Ascaris suum worms within 22 hours of immersion, while Piperazine citrate could only dispatch the Ascaris suum worms by only 37.5%. Green betel (Piper betle Linn.) leafs infuse 20% was able to dispatch all of the Ascaris suum worms within 16 hours of immersion, in the exactly same time Piperazine citatre was only able to dispatch 5% of Ascaris suum worms. Green betel (Piper betle Linn.) leafs infuse 25% was able to dispatch all of the Ascaris suum worms within 10 hours of immersion. Green betel (Piper betle Linn.) leafs infuse were able to dispatch Ascaris suum worm in vitro with optimum consentration 25%.
