Abstract

Rabies is one of zoonotic disease that is caused by Rhabdovirus. This virus reaches CNS via peripheral nerves. The aim of this study was to identify rabies virus Glycoprotein, which is an external protein, has an important role in pathogenicity and antigenecity virus, and lead to protective neutralizing antibodies. Glycoprotein of rabies virus was determined based on the molecular weight of proteins by SDS-PAGE and antigen antibody reactivity by Straifing Western Blot. The samples were collected from the brain of the dog that suspect rabies in Maros Sulawesi and antibody was obtained from vaccinated of research and vaccinated of fields. The results of this study indicate that Glikoprotein rabies virus Sulawesi isolates has a molecular weight 64,66 kDa and proved the existence of a reaction between antigen and antibody of rabies virus.
