Abstract

The effect of egg weight toward the hatchability, DOD weight and mortality rate in Alabio-Mojosari duckling was studied. 375 eggs were randomly selected to five groups weighed namely PI, PII, PIII, PIV and PV i.e: 60 to 64g, 65 to 69g, 70 to74g, 75 to 79g and > 80g respectively. The design of the study was completely randomized design. In trials, five batched of groups weighed, were setter to incubator at the temperature and relative humidity were controlled at 38.5-40°C and 60-70 %. Till the 25th day, then the eggs were change into to the hatchery for three consecutive days. The eggs were candled in the 5 th, 14th and 25th day and its turned there time per day within the 3rd to 25th day with infertile egg or a dead embryos were removed. On hatching day, ducklings were counted and DOD weight was housed during the 1st day after hatch, till two week of age and recorded the mortality rate. The result of this study showed that PI, PII, PIII, PIV and PV have hatchability were 61.33%; 67.95%; 84.95%; 78.67% and 68.00% respectively. DOD weight i.e: 44.38g; 48.594g; 62.588g; 54.518g and 60.324g. Their mortality rate: 8.88%; 4.44%; 0%; 11.11% and 15.55% respectively. Based on this study PIlI (84%, 0%) had significantly highest in hatchability and selected the significantly difference in mortality observed among the others.
