Abstract

Subclinical mastitis is a form of th e disease in which no swelling of the gland abnormality of the milk, often caused by bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Streptococcus uberis , Coliform, dan Pseudomonas. Mastitis cause an economically lost such as the degradation of milk production and quality, there are veterinary and antibiotic cost, a higher culling rate and occasional fatalities. A routine examination and teat dipping are the best choice of controling this condition. Noni extract has an antibacterial substance against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. This research aimed to study a Noni extract that has an active substance in the dipping solution which has an effect against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. This research used sample of 27 cow’s teat was tasted through CMT and resulted positively in subclinical mastitis (+1, +2, dan +3). The number of bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli had been calculated pre and post treatment. The treatment of teat dipping using Noni extract in 25%, 50%, and 75% concentration (each concentration was used for 9 cow’ teat). The result of the treatment after the statical T-test in 25%, 50%, and 75% concentration showed the significant decrease in the number of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
