Abstract

Rabies is one of zoonotic disease that still haunts of society tranquility at Indonesia and endemic in some islands such as Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, West java, Flores and East Nusa Tenggara. Rabies is caused by Rhabdovirus that reaches CNS via peripheral nerves. The aim of this study was found out that the RN-3 and RN-4 primer can be used to detect rabies virus isolates 2009 from dog at West Sumatera. Samples used in this study were three brains of rabies infected dogs originated from West Sumatera. As negative and positive control were used brains of rabid and non-rabid dogs.
