Abstract

This research was conducted to compare the duration of anaesthesia using Ketamine, Ketamine-Xylazine, Ketamin-Diazepam on gecko. Eighteen geckos with a mean weight of 60 grams, were used in this study devided randomly into 3 groups with 6 repetitions. Group A was injected with Ketamine (60mg/kg w), group B was injected with combination of Xylazine (3mg/kg w) and Ketamine (60mg/kg w) where the Xylazine was injected 10 minutes before Ketamine. Group C was injected with combination of Diazepam (1mg/kg w) and Ketamine (60mg/kg w). Diazepam was injected 10 minutes before Ketamine. The duration of anaesthesia is the point where the subject start unconscious until become conscious and begin to move. The data were analyzed using SPSS 17.0 and oneway ANOVA test, when the mean duration shows a clear difference on each group, then continued by Least Significant Difference (LSD) 5 % test. The results show that group B has the longest anaesthetic effect compared with group A and C.
