Abstract

Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) is a disease of chicken caused by Birnavirus. This disease was immunosuppressive and has a mortality rate up to 100%. The aim this research was obsserved the effect of giving sugar apple leaf as extract on blood glucose levels of broiler which is infected by infectious bursal disease (IBD). This research carried out fourty broilers were divided into four groups of treatment. P1 as a negative control group, was the group that given sugar apple leaf extract without IBD virus infected. P2 as a neutral control group, was the group wasn’t given sugar apple leaf extract and without IBD virus infected. P3 as a treatment control group, was the group that given sugar apple leaf extract and also IBD virus infected. P4 as a positive control group, was the group that wasn’t given sugar apple leaf extract but infected with IBD virus. Sugar apple leaf extract administrated orally at the age of 8 until 30 days old, whereas IBD infection administrated once at the age of 21 days old. At the end of treatment, blood sample was taken from brachialis vein to examined blood glucose levels. The value then were tabulated and analyzed by ANOVA Factorial. The results showed that administration of sugar apple leaf extract in broilers infected with IBD virus has no effect on blood glucose levels.
