Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the cross-reaction between proteins Whole Worm Extract and excretory-secretory Fasciola gigantica with serum anti-Toxocara vitulorum and determine the specific and nonspecific molecular weight proteins from WWE and E/S Fasciola gigantica as an initial step for the development of Distomatosis diagnostic kits. Fasciola gigantica were collected from beef liver Distomatosis suffering. E/S Fasciola gigantica protein were collected from adult worms were incubated at 37 °C with a PBS. WWE Fasciola gigantica protein derived from adult worm scours. Toxocara vitulorum collected from calf Toxocariasis patients. L2 eggs obtained from adult worm scours and incubated at room temperature with PBS for 21-28 days. L2 eggs were infected in mouse to obtain anti-Toxocara vitulorum serum. WWE and E/S F. gigantica antigen then reacted with serum anti-Toxocara vitulorum by Western blot. The results showed the existence of cross-reaction between the E/S Fasciola gigantica antigen with anti-Toxocara vitulorum serum in a protein with a molecular weight of 45.8; 35 and 18 kDa. Cross-reaction between the WWE Fasciola gigantica antigen with anti-Toxocara vitulorum serum in a protein with a molecular weight of 74.5; 60; 48.5; 37 and 22 kDa.
