Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the histopathological kidney of mice after giving carbofuran. The research has been done on February 2013 -March, 2013 at Department of Anatomy Veterinary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Airlangga. Twenty male mice (Mus musculus strain balb c) aged 10 weeks with BW 25g – 30g were used. These animals were divided into four groups (P0, P1, P2, and P3). P0 were treated with NaCl 10 ml/mice/day, P1 were treated with carbofuran 0.0417 mg/mice/day, P2 were with carbofuran 0.0208 mg/mice/day, and P3 were with carbofuran 0.0104 mg/mice/day. This research has been conducted for 10 days to determine the toxic effects of carbofuran on the kidney. The data were compared using Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney test. Statistical comparisons were performed using SPSS v20.0 for windows. The result showed that carbofuran significantly caused necrosis and degeneration of the kidney histopathology.
