Abstract

This research aimed to estimate body weight of Limousine calves that based on the body measurement, which are chest girth, body length, and hump height with the statistics models or regression equations. The results of the equations compared with body weight of digital scale and body weight formula to find out the accuracy or precision. Research objects were 24 Limousine calves with age rangeed between four to six months. The body weight ranged from 147 to 325 kg, the chest girth from 110 to 146 cm, the body length from 107 to 127 cm, and the hump height from 95 to 115 cm. The body measurement data analyzed with multiple linear regression analysis. The regression equation is Y = a + (31XI + (32X2 + (33X3. The Y variable is body weight (BB), a is constant, is linear regression coefficient, XI is chest girth (LD), and X2 is body length (PB), also X3 is hump height (TG). The statistics models or regression equation is BB = (-378,013 ) + 4,644LD, with coefficient of determination is 0,932. This research result indicate that the statistics model be able to estimating Limousine calves body weight. Based on regression coefficient, the chest girth (LD) gain more influence on Limousine calves body weight on age range between four and six months rather than the body length (PB) and the hump height (TG). The statistical model results were close to the digital scale result on estimating Limousine calves body weight, precise than body length formula and School's formula.
