Abstract

This is an observational research to detect Avian Influenza (AI) antibody from resident water birds in Sidoarjo and Surabaya wetlands area. Blood speciments were collected from 26 Egrets (Egretta sp.) in Sidoarjo, and 27 blood speciments in Surabaya were collected from: eight Egrets (Egretta sp.), 10 Black-crowned Night-heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), one Little Black Cormorant (Phalacrocorax sulcirostris), three Javan Pond Heron (Ardeola speciosa), and five Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis). The serum from blood speciments were analized with Hemaglutination Inhibition (HI) Microtech.Test. The result showed that AI antibody were detected 23% from Egrets (Egretta sp.) in Sidoarjo, and none were detected from resident water birds in Surabaya.
