Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in soils and feces at Surabaya traditional markets. Fifty grams soil and cat feces from Surabaya traditional markets were used, both of them as much as 30 samples. Soil and feces were evaluated using the sucrose flotation technique. Toxoplasma gondii which were floated at the surface of centrifuge glass examined using microscope on imagination of 400 times to 1000 times. The positive Toxoplasma gondii test was based on the oocyst which is found in soil and feces. The data calculated in prevalence formula. The result of this research indicated that 0 from 30 soil samples were positive Toxoplasma gondii and 1 from 30 feces sample positive Toxoplasma gondii. The result indicating that the Toxoplasama gondii prevalence in soil was 0% and in the cat feces was 3, 33%.
