Abstract

The aims of this research is to study the effects of supplying commercial probiotic on the quantity and quality of local Frisien Holstein milk inparticularly on the specific gravity, milk fat, milk protein, total solid, solid non fat. These commercial probiotic contain Lactobacillus sp. A total of twenty five local Frisien Holstein dairy cow were used as the experimental animals. The animals were divided into five groups, so each group containing five animals. Five kinds treatment of the commercial probiotic group including, Probiotic-0 (0ml), Probiotic-1 (2ml/ltr/with 2 days interval), Probiotic-2 (3ml/ltr/with 2 days interval), Probiotic-3 (4ml/ltr/with 2 days interval), Probiotic-4 (2ml/ltr/with 1 days interval) were given to the experimental animals for ten days period. In the seven days period for adaptation and the next at 8th and 10th days, the milk samples were taken to measured the quantity and quality of milk. The data was collected and analyzed by using Anova and Duncan's Multiple Range Test methods and computed with SPSS computer software program. Results of the experiment showed no significant differences (p>0,05) in quantity milk production as well as quality of milk.
