Abstract

Complete basic immunization prevent child mortality from diseases that can be prevented by immunization such as tuberculosis, hepatitis, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio and measles. More than 13% Indonesian children haven’t received complete basic immunization. Mothers have an influence and an important role in their children's health. Mother's behavior in caring for and raising children will have an impact on the health status of children. Immunization compliance measurement used to assess the success of the immunization program. The purpose of this study was determine the factors that affect mother’s complete basic immunization compliance. This study used observational analytic study and case control design. The number of sample in this study was 49 people for each group of cases and controls with cluster random sampling technique. To determine the effect and Odd Ratio, this study used a simple logistic regression test. The result showed behavioral factors that affect and risk for basic immunization compliance are maternal education, mother’s knowledge and information given by health workers. Mother whose lacking and has low maternal education increase the risk of complete basic immunization non compliance. Providing information by health workers that is less obvious affect complete basic immunization compliance. It may conclude factors that affect mothers to complete basic immunization compliance are maternal education, mother’s knowledge and information given by health workers. Because of low maternal education, the health workers role to increase mother’s knowledge was important. Information, Education and Communication (EIC) by health workers increase mother’s knowledge. This will increase mother’s motivation and affect complete basic immunization compliance.
