Abstract

This thesis investigated the vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade elementary school students who are taught by using keyword technique in SDN Balasklumprik I / 434 Surabaya. The writer identified whether the students who are taught by using keyword technique can get more vocabulary than the students who are taught without using keyword technique (by using word-listing). In the process of data collection, the writer divided the sampling into two groups—Experimental group and Control group based on their classes (class VA&VB). The writer taught the Experimental group used keyword technique and the Control group without using keyword (using word-listing). The writer gave the pre-test, the treatment and then the post-test. After analyzing all the data, the writer then found the students who are taught by using keyword can get higher achievement from the pre-test to the post-test. Result obtained from this study show that there is a significant difference between the students who are taught by using keyword technique and the students who are not taught by using keyword (by using word-listing).
