Abstract

The X-Men is one of the stories of super heroes published by Marvel Entertainment Inc. in the United States. The story of the X-Men presents the aspects of the problems behind the identity of super heroes in the comics. The thesis aims to give explanation on the notion of the shifting identity of the X-Men as the super heroes in the comics. The writer used qualitative method in doing the research. The writer also uses the theory of the society in the novel and the theory of fracturing identity to analyze the problems in the comics. The result of the research shows that there are three parts of the discussion. The first part is the condition of he society in the X-Men comics. The second part is the conceptualizing identity of the X-Men as super heroes. And the third part is the the process of the shifting identity of X-Men in Marvel Comics.
