Abstract
This research wants to find out about the interpretation of American dream represented by Madonna in her song American life. To support the analysis, the writer uses Semiotics of Roland Barthes' denotation, connotation, and myth. The study shows that Madonna rejects the American dream which only concerns on physical and material matter. The conclusion of the study is that the song American life gives an idea about American dream along with its American life based on Madonra's interpretation.
