Abstract

The Prosperity is a goal which wants to be achieved by people either in individual or national context. In order to achieve prosperity and life happiness (Al Falah), it is through a balance between material and spiritual needs fulfilment equally in the form of kinship and brotherhood. Zakat, Infaq and shadaqah (ZIS) can create people prosperity. ZIS implementation to achieve people prosperity has not run well yet. Among other reasons is the lack of understanding and awareness of the muzakkis in performing Zakat Mal.The aims of this study is to know the understanding and awareness of the muzakkis on commands of ZIS as well as ZIS benefits to achieve prosperity of Muslim Community in Bima City. The implementation is realized by establishing ZIS institution on utilization of zakat collected by the muzakkis who has or has not been carrying out ZIS. This study is a kind of qualitative study (naturalistic) which refers to muzakkis which was conducted by interview and Indepth discussion group methods. The result showes that the Government of Bima city has decided a policy that every civil servant (PNS) has to pay 2,5% of their salary per month as profession Zakat. Viewing from the foundation of law of zakat obligation, all informants have understood. About understanding of ZIS benefit and target, all informants understand that beyond their wealth there is a rights of the poor. All informants know and understand about the benefit of zakat to help the poor to fulfill their basic needs in order not to be a beggar. All informants understand about zakat management institution but they have lack of believes about Badan Amil Zakat Daerah (BAZDA). They dominantly conduct ZIS individually. The awareness of civil servant to pay zakat especially wealth zakat still lack, non civil servant informants realize and do the zakat payment and some of them understand and awareness it after the interviewed and discussion. The implementation of this study is the creation of LAZIS Baitul Hamid Raba as an understanding and awareness of muzakkis which are pay zakat individually or through other institutions before. The LAZIS based on certificate No 27 date 17 February 2010 and have started collecting ZIS.
