Abstract

This study was purposed to find the effects of hyperbaric oxygenation on IFN-y and immunoglobulin G levels in the blood serum, which be held in the hyperbaric chamber that belongs to Indonesian Navy Health Institute, Surabaya. The method of this study was laboratory experimental research and the design was randomized posttest-only control group design. The subjects of the experimental were Balb c mice, have been divided into 2 groups i.e an experimental group and a control group. Each group include 68 mice, healthy, 2.5 months old and about 25 30 grams. The experimental group were given hyperbaric oxygenation 2.4 ATA as long as 3 x 30 minutes with 5 minutes interval air inspired, each day for 10 days continuously. Blood serum samples have been collected after the 5th and 10th days from the 2 groups and analyzed by ELISA method to determine IFN-y and immunoglobulin G levels. The data has using descriptif statistic, normality, homogenity, t tests and analysis of varian or if the distribution was abnormal can continue with Mann Whitney test. The results were significant increase IFN-y level after ten days HBO exposure. IFN-y level of HBO group has the higher level significantly (p<0.05) than controled group (0.8224 ± 2.4591 vs 11.4807 ± 23.1788). HBO exposure for ten days might also has tendency increase immunoglobulin G's but nonsignificantly (p>0.05). From the result of data analysis, we conclude that hyperbaric oxygenation 2.4 ATA as long 3 x 30 minutes with 5 minutes interval air inspired, each day for 10 days continuously could stimulate immune response.
