Abstract

This thesis is a study on Non-Government Organization which increases the welfare of cabe jamu's farmers' families in Tunggunjagir village.This area has been chosen with the reason that Tunggunjagir village is largest centre of cabe jamu plants in Lamongan. The objective of this study' is to explore the role of Non-Government Organization, in this case, the group of cabe jamu's farmers. Furthermore, this study is curious whether this group could function as it has to be or not. The characteristic of this thesis is descriptive research which tries to give deep description about what is being observed. Moreover, this study tries to analyze the role of Non-Government Organization in Tunggunjagir based on the result of deep-interview to the respondents by using questionnaires that have been arranged before. Then, they are applied to the theories of village's development and Non-Government Organization. From the analysis, interpretation, and conclusion, it can be seen that Non-Government Organization in Tunggunjagir apparently could not function as it has to be because of the human resources's quality is very low. It is because of the people in this area is poor and most of them do not have high education, although Tunggunjagir has good natural resources, that is, cabe janm. Beside that, the development system forces people as the object and they could not make some progress and be independent. Therefore, people in this village could not improve their life by increasing the family welfare.
