Abstract

Found things that was not suitable for practicum activities such as not wearing a lab coat by student researchers, not wearing gloves most students, still pipette by mouth. The purpose of research is to know management of hazardous substances from execution of work in the pharmaceutical analytical laboratory through a chemicals management program and management K3. Including qualitative research. The study population consisted of three elements: (1) Place: work area, preparation room, administrative space, and instruments space; (2) Performers: Chairman Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, responsible for lab, lecturer supervisor, laboratory technicians, part of infrastructure, laboratory assistant, and students. The research sample starts from informants who often was in the the space lab from June to August 2012. Analysis based on user lab space characteristics obtained noncompliance that causes things that are not appropriate from a secure lab activities. Of the assessment of hazard identification is obtained that what has been done quite good. Of the risk analysis, including category lowrisk. Of the reducing exposure to chemicals not yet be done thoroughly. About of collecting and storing waste temporarily have not done well. About tackle chemical spill can not be done thoroughly. About MSDS has been done well. Based on K3 management program already is done in stages and are managed well in accordance with the conditions they have. Conclusions of research space users is lab not entirely adhere to procedures and rules that have been made, issued and approved. From implementation to work with hazardous materials has been done well, but the changes have not been entirely, positive endorsement management commitment to sustainability on lab activities without neglecting aspects of management K3. The recommendations made are expected to run well by considering the usage and characteristics of hazardous materials are used with no view and compare the concentration.
