Abstract

Grade Point Average (GPA) is a reference point for students to graduate and work. Based on secondary data for last 5 years, the Grade Point Average (GPA) value of Academy of Refraction Optician in Surabaya graduates below 3.00 (<3.00) were an average of 59.14%. The purpose of this research was to develop improvement to increase the Grade Point Average (GPA) value of students by using Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) in Academy of Optician Refraction in Surabaya. The sample was 56 students from level I, II, and III. The sample was taken by random sampling method with cross sectional design. Results based on secondary and primary data. The results showed the factors that directly affected Grade Point Average (GPA) value of students of Academy of Refraction Optician were maintenance, recovery, and learning method. Factors that indirectly affected Grade Point Average (GPA) value were maintenance and recovery self-efficacy. Initiative, lecturer disciplinary, facilities and infrastructure, and environmental condition did not affect Grade Point Average (GPA) value. Recommendations to increase the Grade Point Average (GPA) value of student at the Academy of Refraction Optician in Surabaya should be started with planning and initiating process by hold counseling, sharing, and matriculating to generalize perception of student. Lecturer should give higher point to assignments instead of tests. The other recommendations are improving maintenance and recovery by providing assignments and tests to students; Conducting evaluation at the ending of semester; Improving lecture learning method to student center learning method (SCL); Improving self efficacy by hold outbound activities to develop soft skill, motivation, and self confidence to undergo the study.
