Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the differences histopathological on jejunal villus epithelium after lead acetate administration was prevented in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) which were pretreated with vitamin E. This research was an experimental laboratory using the randomized posttest-only control group design. White rats male were chosen randomly into 5 groups. Control groups were K(-) given distilled water + coconut oil control and K(+) given lead acetate 75mg. Treatment groups were KI (lead aceate + vitamin E 100IU), KII (lead aceate + vitamin E 200IU), and KIII (lead aceate + vitamin E 400IU). The data were tested with Shapiro-Wilk for normality and Levene test for homogenity. Then the data were analyzed with one-way Anova and LSD (Least Significant Different). Based on Anova one-way test for number of erotion villi variable p=0.001 (p<) and result of LSD, there were significant between the control group and treatment groups, except between K(+)-KI and between KI-KII. Based on the results of Anova one-way test for the mean of the villi height variable obtained p=0.001 (p<) and results of LSD test, there was significant difference between all pair of groups, except between K(-)-KI. It can be concluded that the administration of vitamin E may reduce the number of erosion villi and maintain epithelial jejunal villi height due to lead exposure of white rats.
