Abstract
The aim and goal of this study was to understand the role of the life of villagers in East Java. To be more specific certain problems were analyse: (1) What are the patterns of the reasons for powning of the villagers?;(2)What are toe advantages and disadvantages of this kind powning in comparison to borrowing from an usurer?;(3)How are the loans being used? and; (4) How do the villagers evaluate the services aspect of the pownshop?
