Cleft lip and cleft palate are congenital defect which can happened to anyone. The exact cause of the clefts still remains unknown, but the caused by them are definite. The main problem is difficulty dUring feeding. However, later on, they may affect speech very much if the cleft is not corrected.
Here, the writer is interested in comparing the sounds produced by people with cleft lip and those with cleft palate and finding out," any differences in producing sounds berNeen them. For this case, the 'N!iter used phonetic theories in analyzing the data.
