Abstract
Backgrounds : Double J stent insertion is the common procedure done by the Urologists during daily operation preocdure practice. Despite of many indications for DJ stent insertions, and improvement of the stent material, still complications such as patient disomfort still be the concern of the clinician. DJ stent discomfort reported in 80% patient underwent DJ stent insertion. The symptoms is differ from iritative micturition symptoms to haematuria and pain related symptoms. Lately the ideas of sexual function impact, especially in female, caused by DJ stent insertion already stated. Aims: To observe the impairment of quality of life and sexual function on female patient, after the bilateral or unilateral double J stent insertion in ureteroscopy. Methods : This study using prospective observational design, by direct interview by the researcher to the subject. USSQ (Ureteral Stent Symptoms Questionaire) evaluated 30 days after the double J stent insertion . FSFI (Female Sexual Funuction Index) evaluation was done two times, before the double J stent insertion and 30 days after the double J stent insertion. This research conducted from July 2016 to October 2016. Results : We evaluated 27 female patients underwent double J stent insertion, unilateral and bilaterally. The mean age range is between 35 to 61 years old with median age is 44,89(± 6,48) years old. From USSQ evaluation revealed Dysuria as the major symptom (17%), followed by frequency and haematuria. And the pain most complained is at micturition in the inguinal (77%). There is no significant disturbance in daily activity, social life and work performance. From the FSFI findings found decrease in the value of FSFI in mean 15,8 ponts but not statisticly significant (p=0,18; >0,05). And none of the female patient in this research complain pain or insatisfaction of sexual life related to double J stent insertion. These findings contrary to some previous literatures stated quality of life and female sexual life impaired (up to 80%) after double J insertion. Conclusions : There is some impairment and symptoms around quality of life after double J stent insertion on female patient, specially dysuria, pain at groin and external genitalia during micturition. But these symptoms findings did not affect female patient's daily life significantly in this research. From this research also conlcuded there is decrease in total FSFI score after double J stent insertion, but the decrease in not statisticly significant, and the symptoms are not clinically and statistically significant. Further research on this topic is likely contucted to provide more data. Keywords : Double J Stent, Sexual health, Quality of Life, Sexual Function, USSQ, FSFI
