Abstract

Multiple myeloma is a neoplastic disorder characterized by proliferation of a single clone of plasma cells derived from B cells. Initial theraphy for MM should ideally satisfy the following goats. It should (1) allow rapid desease control and reserval of disease-related complications such as hypercalcemia, renal dysfunction and anemia (2) be well tolerated with minimal and manageable toxicity (3) decrease the risk of early death and (4) allow succesful collection of steam cell when SCT is considered as a therapeutic aption.Multiple myeloma is a blood malignancy characterized by the proliferation of bone marrow plasma cells and the presence of atypical immunoglobulin monoclonal proteins in serum and/or urine and the presence of multiple aosteolitik. The clinical manifestations of MM are very heterogeneous: bone pain and/or fractures, anemia infection, hypercalcemia and renal function impairment. Initial therapy should be aimed to control the disease, complications, managing toxicity, reducing the risk of death and if possible do a collection stemcell a time when needed PBSCT. Drug selection should be the optimal treatment results and minimal toxic effect. Bortezomib is and anti cancer drug that works by inhibiting the proteasome is given intravenously
