Abstract

The incidence of allergic diseases had increased dramatically each year, according to data from the WAO (World Allergy Organization) in 2011 incidence of allergies have risen 20-30 % of the total world population (Pawankar, 2013). Allergies due to several factors that affect parental history of allergy, breastfed history, delivery history , cigarette smoke exposure and history of antibiotic useat under 5 years old.This study used analytic observational with cross sectional design. Sample were taken by concecutive sampling met inclusion and exclusion criteria were 80 parents/guardians. Data were taken by direct interview with the parents/guardians. Dependent variable was allergic manifestation whereas independent variable was parental history of allergy, breastfed history, delivery history, cigarette smoke exposure and history of antibiotic use. Data were analyzed by chi square with 95% confidence level.Statistical analysis results of chi square test with continuity correction shows that there areassociation between allergic manifestation with allergic parents (p value 0.000) and breastfed history (p value 0.002). Whereas the other factor, delivery history (p value 0.824), exposure to cigarette smoke (p value 1.000) , history of antibiotic treatment (p value 0.236), it shows that there are no association with the incidence of allergies. Conclusion of this research is there are association between allergic manifestation with parental history of allergy and breastfed history at under 5 years old.
