Abstract

In vivo antimalarial activity study ofethanol extract of Arlocarpus altilis Parkinson Fosberg leaves and stem bark or locally named klwvih lrus been done. The antimalarial sntdy used Peter's test method (fhe 4-Day suppressive test of blood schizontocidal action) in male mice. The plant extracts were suspended wilh 0.5% CMC-Na. Extracts were administered daily for four days by oral route- Blood was taken for seven days from A-Oktobet 2071 19 from initial day after infection tail and then stained with Giemsa, and parasitised red cells were counted. The research revealed that ethanol ertract ofArtocarpus altilis Parkinson Fosberg leaves inhibited 52.82%o: 35.75?5; 28.73% and 20.16% of P. berghei grouth ot concentrqtion 100; l0; l and 0.1 mg/kg body weight respectively. Tlrc ethanol attract of stem bark inhibited 55.56%t; 28.009,5; and 6.3096 of P.berghei growth at concenlration 100 ED5n of ethanol extract from ; 10 ; I and 0.1 mg/kg body weight respectively. leaves and stem bark of A. ahilis Parkinson Fosberg mg/kg boy weight and 67.51 mg,kg body weight respectively. The ethanol extract of Artocarpw altilis Parkinson Fosberg leaves and stem bark have activity antimalarial al concentration l1qmg/kg body weight.
