Abstract

Gendarussa vulgaris Nees is one species of Acanthaceae family. The aim for this research is to isolate and identify flavonoid compound from Gendarussa vulgaris Nees leaves. Isolation is carried out by extraction with chloroform using maceration method. The separation of the component is achieved by liquid vacuum chromatography and thin layer chromatography produce yellownish crystal. The structure of this compound was determinate by UV-VIS, mass, infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), spectroscopy showed a flavonoid compound which known as flavanones or dihidroflavonols with hydroxil groyp at sevent position and methoxyl group.
