Abstract

Child neglect cases is one of the social problems happened in Japan. Child Neglect definition is an act which doesn’t care about the child condition, does not meet the needs of children and do not take care of the child well, who is done by the responsible person for the child, for example, a parent or another person who had a relation with the children. Based on data from the Report on Social Welfare and Service Administration in Japan, the number of child neglect cases from 2008 to 2014 is likely to increase. In 2008 the number of child neglect cases in Japan are 15.905 cases. Meanwhile, in 2014 the numbers are 22.455 cases. Child neglect had a negative impact, especially on the child psychologically. In this research will be discussed about the psychological impact on children who are neglected which represented in Daremo Shiranai japanese movie. The theory used in this research is semiotics belong to Charles Sanders Peirce. The conclusion from this study is there are two characters shown suffered psychological impact. The impact of psychological are the feelings of guilt, depression, difficulty to trust others, lonely and withdrawn. Researcher found the differences of child neglect cases which happened in the movie and in the Japanese society. The differences is, in the Japanese society, neglected child will be placed in child care institution or orphanage. In child care institution or orphanage, they will get a lot of friends, get enough affection, and learn something new. For the neglected children who had psychologically impact, they will get a special tretment to recover their mental.
