Abstract

The perinatal period is an important period which affects the health of neonatal. Disturbance in this period greatly affect health status and may even lead to the neonatal dead. Mother’s behaviours are one of this disturbance that can be ifluenced by several factors, including predisposing factors, enabling factors and reinforcing factors. This study was aimed to analyze the behavioral factors related to mothers’ perinatal behaviours who had neonatal dead in Manggarai-NTT. This reseach used correlation design. Population were mothers’ of the deathneonatal from January to June 2015. Total sample was 35 respondents based on inclusion criteria with purposive sampling technique. The dependent variable was the mothers’ perinatal behaviours, while the independent variable were the mothers’ knowledge & attitude, mothers’ perception of health care facilities, family support and the role of health workers. The Spearman Rho statistic test was performed in order to determine relationship of the dependent and independent variabels. Significance is set at α = 0,05. Results showed that the mothers’ knowledge (p = 0.001), mothers’ attitude (p= 0.031), health facilities (p = 0.018), family support (p = 0.000) are likely correlating with mothers’ perinatal behaviours. While, the role of health care workers (p= 0.100) is not necessarily correlating with mothers’ perinatal behaviours. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that the knowledge, attitudes, health facilities and family support might be correlation with mothers’ perinatal behaviours while, the role of health care workers did not correlation with mothers’ perinatal behaviours in Manggarai NTT.
