Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the effect of soursop (A. muricata L.) seed powder suspension concentration and immersion period toward total mortality of R. sanguineus larvae. A number of 360 R. sanguineus larvae was obtained from engorged adult female tick that were reared in petri dish. The in vitro evaluation of larvicide action against R. sanguineus larvae was done by immersion test for 5, 10 and 15 minutes (T1, T2 and T3) respectively. R. sanguineus larvae was immersed in suspension that contained soursop seed powder, aquadest and CMC. The soursop seed powder suspension concentrations that used in this study were 0%, 1%, 5% and 10% (P0, P1, P2 and P3) respectively. The soursop seed powder suspension concentration factor and immersion period factor were combined by factorial experiment design and devided into 12 treatment groups. Each treatment group consist of 10 R. sanguineus larvae in it. Every treatment group were placed in little bag of filter paper. The bag that contained R. sanguineus larvae were immersed in petri dish that contained soursop seed powder suspension. The result showed that total mortality of R. sanguineus larvae was 0% - 20% in each treatment group. Statistical analysis using analysis of variance showed that no significantly difference among concentration of soursop (A. muricata L.) seed powder suspension and immersion period in increasing total mortality of R. sanguineus larvae.
