Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence of vibriosis caused by Vibrio sp. in the grouper (Ephinepheleus fuscoguttatus) in getting out of coastal waters Bangsring and Ketapang, Banyuwangi. Clinical symptoms characterized by red spots (hemorrhage) in the ventral and lateral body, pale skin lesions, and exopthalmia. Isolation and identification in this study using TCBS agar, SIM agar, SC agar, TSI agar, Gram stain and catalase test. Samples used as many as 20 fishes, and the results showed the symptoms as much as 8 fishes, while the biochemical tests showed there are 4 fishes are positive and 4 fishes are negative. The data obtained by calculating the percentage of positive samples were taken from samples that show clinical symptoms of vibriosis, and the results indicate the percentage of the value of 50%. The conclusion from this study is that the grouper were taken randomly from some coastal waters in Banyuwangi already infected with vibriosis. Those figures obtained indicate that the rate of infection occurs either because the management of the marine environment is poor hygiene, or habits of the people who are still often throw garbage in the sea so polluted grouper.
