Abstract

Acne vulgaris was a major disease in adolescents, 85% of adolescents are exposed to certain severity and most commonly occur at the age of 15-18 years, both in men and women. Acne vulgaris skin disease was a problem that can cause feelings of inferiority, anxiety and stress on a person, especially adolescent. Most adolescents have knowledge of acne vulgaris is not enough, they do not know other factors causes acne vulgaris, management and how to prevent it. This study was aimed to investigated the correlation between knowledge with stress levels due to acne vulgaris in adolescents in SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Surabaya. Method : Design used in this study was cross sectional disign. The population was student of class X and XI who have acne vulgaris in SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Surabaya. Total sampel was 46 respondents, taken according inclusion criteria. The independent variabel was knowledge about acne vulgaris. The dependent variabel was stress level due to acne vulgaris. Data was collected using structured questionnaire. Data were then analyzed using statistic test spearman’s rho with level of significance of α = 0,05. Result : The result of correlation between the knowledge with stress levels due to acne vulgaris showed value p = 0,036 and r = 0,268. Discussion : It can be concluded that knowledge has correlation with stress level due to acne vulgaris in adolescent. Further studies should involve larger respondents and better measurement tools to obtain more accurate result.
