Abstract
Quality of life was an important component in the evaluation of the welfared and lived of people living with HIV. But, the reality showed that quality of live of HIV positive mother was decreased related to problem from family support. The aimed of this research was to determined the relationship between family support with the quality of life of HIV positive mother in Surabaya. This research design was descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The sample were 30 of mother with HIV positive choosed by total sampling. Independent variable was family support and dependent variable was quality of life. This research used questionnaire family support and WHOQOL HIV Breff for quality of life. And the data were analyzed by statistical test Spearman rho with α ≤ 0.05. The result had showed that there was correlation between of family support and quality of life of HIV positive mother (p = 0.026 r = 0.48). The conclusion that family support is important for people living with HIV/AIDS to improved their quality of life. The better family support, the higher quality of life the client. Further research is needed to research other factors (health provider support, community behavior, the effect of antiretroviral therapy and others) that can improve the quality of life for people with HIV/AIDS.
