Abstract

H5 subtype of Avian Influenza virusis infectious disease which infected fowl and some species of mammals such as tiger, cat, and leopard. The study was located at Avian Influenza Research Center (AIRC) Airlangga University in the BSL-2 Laboratory. This study was conducted from Januari to Mei 2016. The aim of this study is to detect antibody of H5 subtype Avian Influenza and identification Avian Influenza virus on stray cat. The Sample of nasopharynx swab and sera were collected from stray cat in the several area such as Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Gresik, Lamongan and Jakarta. The research method utilized by hemaggltination-inhibition test to detect H5 antibody of Avian Influenza virus and hemagglutination test for Avian Influenza virus identification. Hemagglutination-inhibition test was carried out on 100 sera samples and hemagglutination test was carried out on allantoic fluid from inoculation of embryonated chicken eggs that has SAN (Specific Antibody Negative) characteristhic, if the sampels showed that the titre more than 23, the sample must continueto Hemagglutination Inhibition (HI) test. The result showed that H5 antibody of Avian Influenzavirus were detected on 55 sera sample, but Avian Influenzavirus didn’t identify in swab nasopharynx samples.
